The only name attached to this glass negative is Countess de Lubersac, a title the Bain News Service recorded without verification, so the sitter's identity remains uncertain. George Grantham Bain founded his New York news photo agency around 1899, supplying portraits and news pictures to newspapers in the years before the First World War.
