American League Park stood at Broadway and 165th Street in Upper Manhattan, and this 1910 panorama captures the ballpark and its surroundings at a time when the New York Highlanders, later the Yankees, were playing there. The wide format was popular with photographers of the era, who stitched views together to show crowds, grounds and the neighborhood in one sweep. Ballparks of this period were often built of wood and steel on tight city lots, so the panorama also records how a major league stadium fit into a fast-growing part of the city. The park was later replaced by Hilltop Park's successors and, eventually, by other structures on the same site.
