Forget-me-not baby fairy gift tags are small printed cards, often decorated with a fairy figure, a sprig of blue forget-me-not flowers, and a sentiment, used to label or accompany gifts for a newborn. Cards like these were popular in the late 1800s and early 1900s, when chromolithographed scraps and greeting cards were mass-produced and sold for birthdays, christenings and new arrivals. The forget-me-not, with its name and its association with remembrance, paired naturally with the idea of a fairy guardian watching over a child. Look closely at the delicate color work and the way the fairy is framed by the flowers, which show how printers of the period used decorative motifs to give ordinary paper goods a sentimental charm.
