The name that stands out is Connie Mack, the longtime manager of the Philadelphia Athletics, born Cornelius McGillicuddy, whose baseball career ran from the 1880s into the 1950s. The caption also lists Mrs. Connie, Miss McGillicuddy and Mrs. G. Colby, which may point to family members, but these names are unverified and the sitters are not confirmed. The Bain News Service, a New York agency that supplied newspapers with news photographs in the early 1900s, made the original negative, so it was probably taken for press use rather than as a studio portrait.
