The view shows the Engineers Lariat, a looping route on Lookout Mountain within Denver Mountain Park, just west of Golden, Colorado. The photograph came from the National Photo Company, which issued large numbers of landscape views for tourists and postcards in the early twentieth century. Lookout Mountain was becoming a showpiece of Denver's mountain parks during these years, and the grave of William F. Cody, known as Buffalo Bill, sits on its summit, drawing visitors up the same slopes.
