Two boys holding their Easter flowers are the subject of this New York street scene, a small everyday moment captured on a glass negative. The record dates it to April 19, 1908, one week after Easter Sunday that year, though the title comes from notes the Bain News Service wrote on its negatives and has not been independently verified. George Grantham Bain ran one of the city's busiest picture agencies in the early twentieth century, and its plates record ordinary city life as well as news events.
