Bookshelves stacked floor to ceiling make up the whole subject here, with no people, signage or dated detail to anchor the scene in a particular year or room. The photograph came to the gallery through Flickr under a Creative Commons license, credited to the user gadl, which is typical of the casual snapshots that fill the Books category. Such images tend to show a reading space at home, in a library or in a shop, and they reward a closer look at the spines, the arrangement of titles and the way the light falls across the shelves.
