Soldiers and camp workers arranged themselves into the letters and triangle of the Y.M.C.A. emblem at Camp Wheeler, Georgia, a formation clearly staged for the camera. The camp near Macon was one of the large training cantonments built after the United States entered the First World War in 1917, and the Young Men's Christian Association ran canteens, reading rooms, and entertainment for the men stationed there. The caption credits the arrangement to officers and men under Lt. Gen. J.B. Moss and names the photographers, Mole & Thomas, but dates the print only to about 1917 or 1918.
