A promotional balloon appears in front of or above the Wanamaker department store in this glass negative from the George Grantham Bain Collection at the Library of Congress. The Bain News Service, which supplied news pictures to newspapers in the early 1900s, often made such photographs for publicity. The title comes from caption information the service recorded, which the Library of Congress notes has not been independently verified, so the exact date and occasion are unconfirmed.
