The title "Langley" is the only identifying detail here, and the record flags it as unverified, so the picture could show Langley Field in Virginia, named for aviation pioneer Samuel Pierpont Langley, or a different place or person with the same name. Bain News Service, the Manhattan-based agency that produced this glass negative, supplied photographs to newspapers from the early 1900s through the late 1920s, covering news events, people and places. Its negatives often survive without full captions, so the subject is worth checking against the surrounding Bain holdings.
