L.G. Bergdoll, a wealthy Philadelphia-area enthusiast of motorcars and flight, is the name attached to this view of an aeroplane standing inside a hangar. The Bain News Service, a New York agency that sold news pictures to newspapers, captioned its glass negatives quickly, so the title is recorded as unverified. Early aircraft of this period were built of wood, wire and fabric and were usually kept in simple sheds like this one, which makes the picture a useful glimpse of how fragile these machines were tended between flights.
