Plate 3 of the *Theatrical Pleasures* series, titled *Snug in the Gallery*, turns the cheapest seats in the London playhouse into its subject. Published by G. Humphrey at 27 St. James's Street and dated January 1, 1822, this hand-colored engraving belongs to the many satirical prints of the 1820s that poked fun at theater audiences. The gallery, the upper tier with the lowest admission, was known for its noisy and boisterous crowds, and caricaturists often used it to mock the manners of the lower and middling classes. Mary Dorothy George's catalog of British satires at the British Museum lists the print.
