Titled "The Davidheiser Force," this c1900 photoprint was made in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, and its caption card is tagged under police, so it likely records a local law enforcement group. The record is based on old, unverified data, so the name Davidheiser and the make-up of the group should be read with some caution. In 1900, Pottstown was an industrial borough on the Schuylkill River, where iron and manufacturing shaped daily life. Local studio photographers of the period, such as H.A. Abercromby, often recorded civic groups and townspeople for their sitters and communities.
