A teacher's name and a list of grievances give this January 1971 drawing its satirical edge: children at the Kelly School, playing at adulthood, present their "demands" to a Miss Peach. It appeared during the early 1970s, when the women's liberation movement was openly challenging the roles women were expected to accept at work and at home, and the subject headings link the scene to both children's play and women's rights. Drawn in black ink over pencil with a printed overlay, the cartoon seems to use the children's solemn seriousness to comment on how grown-up authority and protest could look like a game.
