Catalogued simply as VAL-11, this is the eleventh entry in a Valentine's Day series, and its record does not give a maker, date or exact subject. Valentine's imagery of this kind often appeared on printed cards and postcards, usually decorated with cupids, hearts, lace and flowers, and exchanged between friends, sweethearts and family. Holiday designs like these were popular with illustrators and commercial printers, who produced them in large runs. Looking closely at the decorative motifs and the printing style can help place a piece like this within that tradition.
