Three New York figures appear in this frame: Mayor John F. Hylan, Cardinal Patrick Hayes, and Bishop James J. Dunn. Hylan served as mayor from 1918 to 1925, and Hayes, then archbishop of New York, was made a cardinal in 1924, so the photograph probably dates from that period. The Bain News Service, a New York agency that supplied news photographs to newspapers in the early twentieth century, made the glass negative, but the record gives no date or occasion for the meeting.
