The title refers to the old parlor game of plucking petals from a daisy, each one answering whether a sweetheart returns one's affection. That familiar courtship ritual gives this stereograph its mix of tenderness and teasing. Made around 1906 by E.W. Kelley, the print is a pair of nearly identical images mounted on card for viewing through a stereoscope, a popular home entertainment in the early twentieth century. The catalog tracings label it as sentimental and humorous, which matches how scenes of courtship were sold as light, domestic amusement. The record offers few other details, so the card is best read as a glimpse of everyday romantic play from its period.
