Wrigley Field in Chicago, shown here in 1929, was then still a young ballpark. It had opened in 1914 as Weeghman Park, the home of the Chicago Whales of the short-lived Federal League, and it took the Wrigley name only after chewing gum magnate William Wrigley Jr. bought the Chicago Cubs in 1921. Panoramic views like this one were a popular way to show off a stadium's size and crowd, and this one captures the park as a place where the Cubs were building a fan base that would later make the ivy-covered walls famous.
