The view shows the Jägerhof at Rominten, a hunting lodge on the Rominten Heath in East Prussia, a region that now lies in Russia's Kaliningrad Oblast and Poland. The heath had been a imperial hunting preserve of the Hohenzollern monarchy, and in the 1930s Hermann Göring, the Nazi official who oversaw Germany's forests and game, used the lodge for his own hunting trips. The photograph's courtyard view shows the building's design as a rustic retreat built for the pursuits of its wealthy and powerful owners. The print is undated beyond the 1930 to 1940 range given in its record.
