Bertha Krupp, the only daughter of steel magnate Friedrich Alfred Krupp, appears here with her husband, Gustav, in two half-length portraits. Her 1906 marriage to Gustav von Bohlen und Halbach tied the family to the Essen steelworks, which supplied artillery and armor to Germany during the First World War. The prints are dated about 1915, in the middle of that conflict, when the firm was one of the largest arms suppliers to the German army. The caption information is unverified, so the identification rests on the original card rather than a confirmed source.
