Betty Boop was a drawn cartoon character, not a real person, so a picture carrying her name is likely a reproduction, a promotional item, or a later printing rather than an original photograph, which the record's "photo print" label doesn't fully resolve. Max Fleischer's studio introduced her in 1930, when she was a dog-eared, flapper-styled figure in its short films, and she became one of the best-known animated characters of the early sound era. Her look, with a short black bob, big eyes, and garters, reflected the jazz-age fashions of the period. Her image was softened after 1934, when the film industry's Production Code tightened its rules on content.
