Rabbits and decorated eggs fill this Easter greetings postcard, a mix of motifs that was common in the holiday cards printed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Postcards of this kind were cheap to mail and often carried short notes wishing family or friends a happy holiday, which made them a popular way to keep in touch around Easter. The rabbit, linked in European folk custom with spring fertility and new life, became a regular figure in these designs and helped carry the egg-and-hare imagery that still shapes Easter decorations today. Looking closely, you can often see the lithographic color work and the stylized, cheerful drawing typical of the period.
