Three men, McKenzie Moss, Jas. B. Reynolds, and Vernon W. Van Fleet, are named in this glass negative, dated September 20, 1923. The National Photo Company, which worked in Washington, D.C., during the 1910s and 1920s, made portraits and news pictures of officials, visitors, and everyday city life, and this plate belongs to that output. The names come from the company's own notes and have not been independently verified, so the record does not say why the men were photographed. Herbert A. French gave the negative to the Library of Congress in 1947. Streaks and blemishes on the plate come from the original coating breaking down over time.
