The title *Totten Wedding* comes from notes the National Photo Company wrote on the negatives or their sleeves and has not been independently verified. The date of about 1921 is inferred from other negatives in the same range rather than from the image itself. The National Photo Company was a Washington, D.C., studio that documented civic and private life in the early twentieth century. This glass plate shows streaks and blemishes from the natural breakdown of its original coating, which affects fine detail.
