Ebbets Field, the Brooklyn Dodgers' ballpark, is the subject here, a site that drew large crowds from its opening in 1913 until the team left for Los Angeles after the 1957 season. This negative belongs to the George Grantham Bain Collection, made up of photographs from the Bain News Service, a New York agency that supplied newspapers and magazines with pictures of news events, sports and people from the early 1900s through the 1910s and 1920s. The record gives no date or photographer, and the title comes from unverified notes written on the negative or its caption card, so the exact year and view are uncertain. Still, the image offers a glimpse of a park that became a fixture of Brooklyn life.
