The label is for a cigar brand called Angel Belle, and its main image is a horse and rider. Cigar makers in the late 1800s and early 1900s printed colorful lithographed labels to make their boxes stand out on crowded shop shelves. Horses were a popular motif then, when they powered transportation, farm work, and military service, so a rider in the picture would have been familiar to many buyers. Many of these labels were kept as keepsakes, which is one reason so many survive today.
