Few pictures on this board name three men in the title: Arthur Balfour, the British statesman; Joseph Choate, the American lawyer who was ambassador to Britain from 1899 to 1905; and Charles Dana Gibson, the illustrator known for the Gibson Girl. The record gives no date or location, and the title comes from Bain News Service data marked as unverified, so the occasion remains uncertain. Bain's New York agency sold news photographs of prominent people to newspapers, and a pairing like this one hints at the overlap between diplomatic and artistic circles in the early 1900s.
