Rising above the traffic of Fleet Street, the tiered spire of St. Bride's church is what sets this view apart. Thomas H. Shepherd drew the scene and J. Tingle engraved it for the London publisher Jones & Co., who issued it in January 1829 as one of their views of the city's streets. Christopher Wren rebuilt the church after the Great Fire of 1666, and its stepped steeple is often said to have inspired the tiered wedding cake, which makes the print a fitting choice for a wedding wall.
