Few holiday cards from the early twentieth century were as cheerful as this one, with its bells, chicks and clusters of forget-me-nots arranged around the lettering. Easter postcards like it were a popular way to send seasonal wishes, and they were often printed in bright color lithography that made the tiny blue flowers stand out. Images of chicks and bells stood for spring, new life and the Resurrection, so the card carried both a festive message and a quiet religious one. Look closely at the small flowers, since forget-me-nots were a favorite motif because their name suggested remembrance between friends and family.
