Cape Mount, a coastal district of Liberia, is the place named in this engraved Easter card, which was given to members of the Foreign Missionary Box Association of the Protestant Episcopal Church. Liberia was founded by the American Colonization Society, whose papers include this card, as a settlement for free Black Americans and later for people freed from slave ships. Cards like this one linked churchgoers in the United States to mission work in West Africa, and the Easter greeting ties the seasonal sentiment to that overseas effort. The print is dated only to between 1840 and 1900, so its exact year is uncertain.
