A cigar label titled *Here's Luck* shows two men together at a bar, a scene meant to evoke the easy sociability of a saloon or club. Labels like this were printed in large runs by commercial lithographers in the late 1800s and early 1900s, when a brand had to stand out on crowded shop shelves and in cigar boxes. Scenes of men relaxing, talking, and sharing a smoke were a common appeal to the male buyers these makers targeted. The piece is worth a closer look for its small, densely worked composition and for what it shows about how tobacco companies sold good fellowship as much as the product itself.
