A young girl stands beside a plump turkey on this Thanksgiving postcard, a small-format greeting in which the bird is more than a decoration: it signals the holiday's centerpiece and the season's abundance. Holiday postcards like this were produced in large numbers in the early twentieth century, when sending a card was a cheap and common way to mark a holiday across distances.
