A tower and a power house are the subjects named for this glass negative, though that title comes from unverified notes kept by the Bain News Service. The agency was a New York news photography business that supplied pictures to newspapers in the early 1900s, and its staff often recorded architecture, utilities and street scenes that were newsworthy at the time. Glass plates like this one were the standard working medium before flexible film took over, so the image reflects that older technique. Lacking a recorded date or place, the picture is best read as a general record of industrial infrastructure from that era.
