Here the trade card puts a balloon maker's own name at the center: Henri Lachambre, billed as an *aeronaut-constructeur*, a balloonist who also built the craft he flew. Its mix of balloons and animals reflects a long publicity habit. Since the Montgolfier brothers sent a sheep, a rooster and a duck aloft in 1783, animals had stood for daring and proof of safety in ballooning, and the same idea carried into the commercial advertising of French aeronauts in the 19th century. The piece shows how a builder and flyer used spectacle to win clients for ascents and for his balloons.
