This Keystone View Company stereograph, numbered 33535 on its card, shows Franklin D. Roosevelt in the mid-1930s, about two years into his first term. Keystone, based in Meadville, Pennsylvania, produced stereoview cards that viewers held up to a stereoscope to fuse two nearly identical photographs into one three-dimensional scene. The date of about April 13, 1935 comes from an old caption card and has not been verified, so the exact occasion is uncertain. Its caption notes identify the subject as the president, which makes the card a useful look at how a sitting president was presented to the public during the New Deal.
