Easter postcards like this one, showing a rabbit at the stove with a pot of eggs, were a popular sort of holiday greeting in the early 20th century. Rabbits and eggs had long been linked with spring fertility and new life, and by the Victorian and Edwardian years the Easter Bunny had become a familiar figure in children's pictures and printed cards. Cards like this were often mailed between family and friends, and the cheerful domestic scene, with the rabbit doing the cooking, was a playful twist on the holiday's imagery. Worth noticing are the bright color and the whimsical humanized animal, which reflect the commercial lithography used to mass-produce such greetings.
