This color lithograph from 1899 is a theatrical advertisement for a trained dog act, though the title was devised by cataloguers rather than printed on the sheet. The Courier Lithographing Company of Buffalo, New York, produced it, one of many firms that turned out colorful posters for touring variety and vaudeville shows, where trained animals were a common attraction. The record also lists David Belasco, the Broadway producer and playwright, among the associated names, a reminder of how closely such advertising was tied to the stage business of the period.
