The title's own wording, "Your limit is not too much," sets this poster apart from the many Liberty Bond appeals on the board: it asks viewers to measure their giving against what they could spare rather than what was suggested. It belongs to the United War Work Campaign, a coalition formed in 1918 by a group of American charitable organizations to raise money for servicemen and women in World War I. Although the record dates it only to about 1917, the campaign's appeals ran in late 1918, when such drives sought funds for camp canteens, recreation and welfare work for troops overseas. The lithograph is a useful reminder that wartime fundraising in the United States often went beyond government bonds to include charitable and morale efforts.
