The motto "God Is Love" sits among clusters of grapes, other fruit, and flowers, a pairing of scripture with produce that sets this label apart from the purely decorative fruit art on the board. Labels like this were colorful lithographs pasted onto wooden crates and boxes so that growers and shippers could stand out to buyers in crowded markets. Many such labels were printed in the late 1800s and early 1900s, when railroads made it possible to ship fresh fruit long distances. Their designs often blended nature imagery with sentiment or faith, which helped a brand feel trustworthy.
