Nineteen small portraits of soprano Alma Gluck share a single 8 by 10 inch glass plate, a layout that let the Bain News Service show a sitter in many poses at once. Gluck, born in Romania and raised in New York, was one of the best-known concert and recording singers of the 1910s, and her Victor records reached a wide audience. Bain's staff often made multi-image plates like this so that editors could choose which picture to run, so the sequence reads almost like a contact sheet from a single sitting. No date is recorded, and the title comes from caption information the agency supplied, which has not been independently verified.
