Rather than a battlefield view, this stereograph shows a monument in the Soldiers' National Cemetery at Gettysburg, placed near the spot where Abraham Lincoln delivered his address on November 19, 1863. His brief remarks followed a much longer oration by Edward Everett. The card was issued around 1927 by the Keystone View Company of Meadville, Pennsylvania, when stereoscope views of Civil War sites were popular with home viewers and visitors to the battlefield. Lincoln drafted much of the speech in Washington, so the monument marks where he spoke rather than where he wrote it.
