Under the slogan "Go over the top with the tank that will win the war!", this 1917 lithograph by Phifer pairs a tank with an appeal to American industry. The National Industrial Conservation Movement issued it after the United States entered the war in April 1917, when factories were being pressed to increase output. Its text ties the turret's watchword to the crews who man the guns and calls for united effort against disloyal obstruction, urging workers to work harder and produce more. Tanks were a novel weapon, first used by the British in 1916, which made them a striking emblem of modern war.
