Well, having lived in Asia (sort of -- the Philippines), that's what I'd have expected. But even finding low meat, the way it's done in Asia, is a treasure hunt in Chicago's Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai and other Asian places. You get basically German with soy sauce: piles of meat and a veggie garnish. The idea of meat/fish as a seasoning, not the main thing, seems to be lost in crossing the Pacific -- or at least the Mississippi. By the way, if you do get to Madison, there's a somewhat new Laotian restaurant on Williamson St that puts any Asian I've been to in Chicago to shame, IMHO. Can't remember the name, but if anyone's interested and can't find it I'll ask my sister.
