For breakfast or Sunday brunch, try the Ovens of Brittany. Their ``Brittany Bun'' is awesome.

If you want a great quick lunch, try Parthenon Gyros. There Gyros are made from scratch on the premesis. They are the best I have ever tried, that is saying a lot from a Greek person.

More than decent, there is one truly excellent restaurant in Madison, L'etoile. I saved the card in case I'm ever back there. It's at 25 North Pinckney (608-251-0500) which is near the state capitol building. I have no memory of their opening hours and days, so I'd suggest phoning ahead. Probably a reservation wouldn't hurt either.

The other two dinners I had in Madison were stunningly mediocre (and near the campus), but perhaps we chose wrong.

While there, I'd also recommend a visit to Penzey's. As much fun as the catalog is, the store is even better.

Check out www.madisondining.com, a great source for Madison Wisconsin area restaurants. You can also find reviews and a forum on that site.
