Sorta Review: Seattle Crab Co

My wife and I are expecting a baby, and we have classes to attend
Tuesday evenings at the Northgate Group Health, so we dropped by the
Seattle Crab Co for a bite to eat beforehand.

 We were underwhelmed.

First of all, it's an awkward hybrid of fast-food style and real
restaurant style. One stands in line to order one's food, takes a
number, snags silverware, napkin and tray, and heads down the
cafeteria line for salad, drinks, and so forth. A bit later, a
 waitperson brings your food out.

The food we had was not adventurous - a caesar salad, chowder, an
order of cod & chips - and was not done badly, nor particularly
well. Your basic fast food seafood, really, although the caesar was
perhaps a bit fancier than one might expect. I had a beer. Total tab,
 a bit over eighteen bucks.

I have to think that this food is considerably overpriced for the
quality (workmanlike at best) and the ambience (totally absent).
The staff tries hard to be cheerful, but it's obvious that they don't
much like being there - although the place was doing great business
when we went, I must admit.

So, if you want seafood, spend the extra couple of bucks and go
someplace that does it well where you don't have to stand in line to
order. Or, save a few bucks and go to any of the local fish and chip
places. Either way, the Seattle Crab Co seems to be poised awkwardly
between the two niches, filling a niche that doesn't exist. I don't
 expect it to last long.
