I thought Pepe's was okay, but I was comparing the place just north and east of there, Burrito Loco. The sauces at BL, from the salsas provided with the chips, to the ahogada poured all over the torta, to the pipian, are truly wonderful; by comparison, I thought the sauces at Pepe's were a smidge underseasoned. I did think Pepe's provided good, filling meals, and good value for the money too; but Burrito Loco has spoiled me, and Juan Colorado on 14th Ave. S. is also way high among my favorite Mexican joints.
