Nicolas Restaurant

A friend and I had lunch there today and I realized that I had
only seen this mentioned once in this group. I must admit I am fairly
new and may have missed it.

I just want to let everyone know how great it is. The food is
mostly Italian & Greek in nature. The portions are large, and the prices
very reasonable. My favorite is the individual veggie pizza. Lots of
veggies and cheese. I always end taking a snack home. The salads are
big enough to share and full of good things. The pastas are generous
and when they contain something (i.e. mussels) there is a very adequate
amount. The soups taste homemade. I've never been able to eat dessert,
but they look good. If you are a vegetarian you will be able to have a
good meal here, they offer a nice variety. They serve breakfast all day,
and the omelets are full of the ingredients stated on the menu. The
sandwiches aren't ordinary, but very delicious. And they have several
 lunch specials.

This is also a place you would take a friend if you wanted to sit
and chat in a pleasant atmosphere. It is located on N 45th Street and
Meridian Ave N, right next to Tweedy and Popp Hardware. Parking on N45th
is sometimes difficult, but they have parking and an entrance in back of
 the restaurant.

I must either be too sensitive or had very bad luck...
I've tried Nicolas several times as I live nearby. Once we couldn't even
get someone to seat us so we walked out. Employees were talking amongst
themselves. Another visit and we got stuck with the Waitress From Hell.
Got the wrong food, not served at the same time so one person was eating,
one wasn't, and had to beg for silverware. Food's good but we've run into
too many peripheral problems and so won't go back. The food wasn't THAT
 good...

You're not alone--several friends and I have all had
such experiences at Nic's. The food can be good but
the workers are often unprofessional. We also left
once after an unnecessarily long wait by the 'Please
wait to be seated' sign--ended up having a great dinner
at the Thai place across the street on the corner. I go to
Nic's now only for a quick salad.
