I appreciate all help. I didn't *eat* at this place (just had a few brews) but I thought it had great-smelling BBQ. It's on Q'Anne Hill near QFC & Tower Books... called "Floyd's". I went to meet some friends there and I'm not so sure, but I think it's "smoke-free". There's a juke box too. Clean and well-lit. Not too loud of a place either... you can actually have a conversation! It is close to a few other attractions you might find yourselves coming to or going to... movies, dancing, Key Arena, Seattle Center... Good luck! P.S. As a Seattle-area native I am slightly *worried* about admitting I *finally* went to "13 Coins" in Downtown Seattle (near the Seattle Times' bldg.) I had steak -- which was cooked extremely well -- and the steak fries. Excellent, spendy though. The service was worth the $. Attentive and thorough. (and this was at 3AM Friday! Did I mention it was open 24-hours?) I guess this is a good *date* place too... check it out beforehand so you know what you're getting into. Nate Seattle

Good First Date Restaurant?

Robert Julien, the "Singing bartender" from Jake's now owns a pub in Wallingford called the Pacific Inn Pub. Do you remember Guiness Book plaque that hung over the bar at Jakes? It now hangs on the wall of the Pacific Inn's pool room. Robert doesn't sing regularly, but on special events he has been known to sing Danny Boy one more time. So, some of the Jakes charm is still alive! I am Robert's brother, and used to work at the P.I. but I had to quit because of back troubles. As a parting gift, I wrote for the P.I. a web page. See.. http://www.halcyon.com/moonbeam/pacinn/ On the topic of "seattle.eats", the P.I. has just added a Salmon Burger to their menu. I had it for the first time the other night, and it's really good. They said that it is very low in fat and calories, so if you substitute a salad for the fries, it is a good low-cal meal. By the way, ask them to top it with fresh cracked pepper. yummm. If you want to read all about how to prevent back injury, see... http://www.halcyon.com/moonbeam/back/
