Flying Fish

I ate at the Flying Fish on First Avenue in Belltown last night and
really enjoyed it. From what I understand this is really a very "in"
place right now, but it wasn't so crowded last night. It was a Tuesday
(Halloween) at about 8 pm. Perhaps the afterwork crowd had gone trick or
 treating by then.

Anyway, they have a very unique menu of 3 sections. First is small
dishes or appetizers, which you can combine for a meal. Then are entree
sizes, and finally there are platters for 2 or more people to share.

We opted for the appetizers, and ordered 5 of them, including Thai
crabcakes, fried oyster caesar salad, seared albacore (a dish showing up
in all the finest Seattle seafood restaurants), lobster salad, and
scallops served with a fig compote. All except the oysters were great,
but I usually don't like cooked oysters, so take that with a grain of
 salt.

I plan to go back sometime and try the rest of the menu. It
specializes in seafood, obviously, cooked in a creative way.

They also have some microbrews on tap, and many wines, both by the
 bottle and glass.

     Cheers,
     David
