House of Hong is known for its good dim sum, even Chinese and other
tourists from Asia go eat there.

At one time or another I've gone to most of the places in the Seattle area
that offer Dim Sum and IMHO Noble Court in Bellevue is the best. If you
arrive after 11:30 be prepared for a wait but the food is good and the
 atmosphere is fun.

I've been to House of Hong since they have changed hands and feel they are
back up to their former excellent level but the prices seem a little steep.
Still haven't made it to Top Gun but hope to one of these days.

In the ID, I'd go with House of Hong. Their variety and consistency is
better than it used to be and up there as a "B+" in my Dim Sum Book. I
think Noble Court is overrated. On the eastside I would head for East Ocean
but don't jump at the first things around in the cart. Pace yourself. This
is true at any Dim Sum place. China Gate has reopened in the ID, it may be
worth a try for an adventure. Top Gun would be fine if the service and
selection were less irratic. Four Seas has it's moments but can be a bit
greasy. But the eggplant and potstickers are good, the squid is excellent
and fried shrimp rolls are excellent. At both House of Hong and China East
ask for the salt and pepper prawns with heads one. Amazingly good.

I've been to Ocean City (I think that's the name) in the ID a
couple of times. Trays continually passing by, you've got to
be careful not to pile up too much on the first few...
Pretty good stuff, including many things I normally wouldn't
consider eating, lending to my belief that it's authentic
(that and the glares from other tables at the "ugly americans"
at our table. Yes, they were bad)...

.eaters, feel free to correct my somewhat vague memory if you
 know where I'm talking about.

best Dim Sum we've found in Town:

Noble Court in bellevue, NE Corner [behind the BP station] of 140th Ave
 NE and Bel-Red Road.

MMmmmmmMmmmm. Now I want to go eat there.

I've been told that they are owned by the same people who USED to also own
House of Hong in the I-District. Good place -- now I know why everyone was
giving good marks to HoH before the sale!

It's in a little strip mall on Rainier (there's also a video store there).
The Thai place just down the street is also good -- Thai Orchid, I think?

-- Michael. (And the worst blackjack in WA is nearby too.)

I checked out the newly reopened China Gate today in the ID. Quite fine. A
nice selection, far less dark and "kitschy" than the old surroundings.
Definitely up there in the Seattle Dim Sum Pantheon.
